Unfortunately, history is repeating itself once again. A few months ago, OnePlus (and its parent company Oppo) and Nokia concluded a lengthy patent dispute that threatened to prevent OnePlus and Oppo handsets from being sold in Germany.
This time, however, the issue is not with Nokia per se; rather, it is a legal dispute with InterDigital on important patents related to 5G and other mobile technology. And it sounds a lot like the main points of contention around the Nokia controversy.
Once again, OnePlus‘s German online store does not sell smartphones, but all of its other products appear to be in working order, indicating that this is obviously a 5G issue. When will OnePlus be permitted to sell its phones in Germany once more?
The company has issued the following official statement on the matter:
OnePlus places high value on intellectual property rights and fair access to standard essential patents, which is essential for driving innovation in the industry. We will continue to negotiate with InterDigital and wish to solve this matter in an amicable way. Meanwhile, our commitment in Europe remains unchanged and we will continue to provide excellent products and services to our users.
